European Hotel Luxury Meets Historic Charm

The Vision Located in the historic Homeland neighborhood, this residence had “good bones” but felt architecturally sparse and visually cold. The homeowners wanted to shed the stark atmosphere in favor of a warm, inviting retreat reminiscent of a European luxury hotel. They needed a space that could handle entertaining groups without losing the intimacy of a family home.
The Transformation To bridge the gap between the home’s potential and the client’s dream, we started with the architecture. We layered custom picture frame molding onto the walls and elaborated on the existing minimal crown molding, instantly adding the depth and character the room lacked.
We replaced the cold void with warmth by curating a rich, tactile palette. Custom window treatments frame the views, while a specifically commissioned series by a local artist serves as the room’s showstopper, injecting soul and color into the space.
The Functionality True to our roots in spatial planning, we completely reimagined the floor plan. The challenge was to integrate the client’s existing large-scale sofa and chair into a layout that encouraged conversation rather than clutter.
By introducing a massive custom rug, we defined the elongated room as a single, cohesive entertaining zone. We added swivel seating and optimized the flow, ensuring the room feels full and established, yet breathable.
The Details
The Lighting: A striking flush mount features individually hand-cut shells, acting as jewelry for the ceiling.
The Art: Large-scale commissioned pieces anchor the room and dictate the color story.
The Finish: Gold accents in the lighting and framing provide that final touch of hotel-inspired glamour.
